Viral stuff

That Bath video did go a bit viral.

But, to liven up Sunday morning, here's a short take on it.

Made us laugh.

Why are you taping my wife?

When we get asked "Why are you taping my wife" its usually related to some late evening encounter on the downs in our van, but here we see it on the streets of Bath in broad daylight. Its long, but funny to listen to.

We particularly like the bit in the conversation where she threatens to report him to the police for assault:
'I'm going to say you were assaulting me!'
'Fine, I've been filming the whole thing'
'I don't care!'
If there's a moral here, don't get upset that someone films you in public. Getting upset just makes it funnier when the video goes online, and more people see it.

24/jan/2012 update; the video has been made private.  Sorry.

Update 2: It's back.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8zqNe0ujwE and here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/9033477/YouTube-roadrage-hit.html

Police target 'selfish' cyclists in Bath

According the BBC, the police in Bath are to warn and even fine cyclists who ride on the pavement.

A force spokesman said: "Riding on the pavement is antisocial, selfish and potentially dangerous. We're determined to do something to stop it."
He added: "[Cyclists] riding on the pavement is one of the most common complaints we receive from the public.

Yes, we complain. Look at this pavement in Lockleaze. There is no way that any pavement cyclist could get past this lovely van WV57VBZ without damaging its paintwork.

And here, on Cheltenham Road, any cyclist who rides on the pavement swerving past the door of the van 996901 could hit the pedestrian or the paintwork on the car KP59NHG.
The tax-dodgers have bike lanes? Why are they so selfish that they don't use them?

As the article says
"The issue is consistently a top priority raised at the regular police Partners and Communities Together (Pact) meetings.
"Officers in the city centre will be concentrating on illegal bike riding for the foreseeable future."
They must read our web site. Or the Evening Post.

A ticket? On a sunday?

This pic of a range rover Y1GRT being persecuted by parking services for parking slightly on a pavement and double yellow line hits our inbox. It was taken on a sunday.

This shocked us -if Bristol Parking Services are going to work on Sundays, next they will be out after 5pm on a weekday. But a closer check of the photo revealed there was nothing to fear. This picture is from Bath!

Stealth Parking a SmartCar in Bath

Chris Hutt sent this one in -it's of a car hiding in the tunnel under Pulteney Bridge
in Bath, on the footway and double yellow lines.
Were it not for the flash of the camera bringing up the number plate -X391LKV- so clearly, you wouldn't know the car was there. Which shows why SmartCars are so suited to the city: you can get them onto bits of pavement no other car will fit, into places the parking enforcement teams don't bother to go to. Nicely done.
