British School of Motoring: teaching you how to shop

It's not enough to learn how to drive, you need to know the lifestyle -how to sprint round the city, which signs to ignore, where best to buy some discounted vodka. This is why we are please to get a photo from cyclista, showing the Bristol School of Motoring car WR59OJY on the double yellow lines outside the Tesco Express on Bedminster North Street.

Some people are surprised that Tesco Expresses -which target passing motorists- are always on main roads with double yellow lines outside. Those people miss the point. Those double yellow lines ensure short-stay parking for passing customers. They put the shops on main roads as that is where the passing customers are.

Returning to the car, look how perfectly it is aligned with the pavement, the wheels perfectly straight. That is skilled parking!

Vandalism

Those vandals at the Council have removed one of my favourite pieces of Bristol street art. By installing new cycle parking.

North Street will never be the same again. Unless someone reading this still has the stencil.

A winner!

Correspondent Q sends in a photo of a range rover.
I'm frustrated that I've been unable to find a winner to your competition this month, despite trying. I did spot one Range Rover in Park Street in a pay and display bay and thought I'd won, but the ticket was well over time, so it disqualified itself.

However, one walking through the Aldi car park in North Street yesterday I watched this one park perfectly legally! 'Nuff said.


This car is actually being very considerate. One reason nobody wants to park near a 4x4 is even if they take up the parking space without infringing on yours, you know their doors will leave another dent in your vehicle when they open them. By parking so as to leave room for the doors to swing wide without bashing anyone, everyone is happy. Q therefore wins the December 2008 Legally Parked Range-Rover award!

Triple Lines!
